Paint techniques and Effects
Whether you are restoring a historic property or wish to give your new home and furniture a makeover, this course is for you. Wouldn’t you love your home to have that special unique touch? It’s much easier to achieve than you think. There’s no need to hire an interior decorator; using some simple painting techniques can give you that decorator look without the big price tag.
This course will show you how to create decorative effects using 'distressed', 'antiqued', 'dragged', 'washed' / ‘lime-washed', ‘sponging’, ‘stenciling’ and ‘glazing’ techniques. Decorative paint effects can define the character of a room or completely alter the appeal of your existing décor and furnishings. In this specific art you are truly only limited by your imagination. Many paint effects are based on a few simple techniques. These can be used on their own or combined to produce an infinite variety of paint effects.
The term Faux painting or Faux finishing is used to describe a wide range of decorative painting techniques.

Painting with Pastels
Soft Pastel is an exciting and very versatile painting medium used by many great painters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Mary Cassett, Chardin, Degas, Manet and Renoir. Pastels produce rich colourful paintings with a strong intensity and luminosity. The brilliant colours allow a spontaneous approach and endless possibilities. In Pastel painting colours are mixed directly on the paper by overlaying and blending. As in oil painting, you will work from dark to light colours. This course is suitable for all levels from complete beginners to advanced and students will be guided step by step through their painting. You will learn about different pastel strokes, the importance of light and dark tones, warm and cool colours, composition and how to fix your paintings so that the Pastels do not rub off. more...

Watercolour for all levels
The chief characteristic of watercolour is its transparency and in ‘pure’
watercolour painting this is exploited to the full. Unlike the painter in oils who
can lay lighter paint over dark tones, the water colourist must work through
from the lightest tones to the darkest. It is the transparent pigment which
gives pictures in watercolor the brilliance and sparkle which sets them apart
from other styles of painting. This medium can be enjoyed by all abilities from
Beginners to Advanced. YouI will be guided you step by step from still life or
pictures, depending on preference. more...
